Brie Larson to star in drama series `Lessons In Chemistry`

A straight to series order was given by Apple+ for upcoming drama Lessons in Chemistry which is set to feature popular thespian Brie Larson not only as an actor, but also as a producer.

Set in the early 1960s, the plot addresses a woman named Elizabeth Zott (Brie Larson), who has a great dream of being an important scientist.

The production is based on the debut novel by Bonnie Garmus. Apple's "Lessons in Chemistry" will be set in the 1960s, "When Elizabeth finds herself pregnant, alone, and out of her lab, she faces ingenuity with only one mother".

Lessons in Chemistry will penned by Susannah Grant, who was nominated for an Oscar for writing Erin Brockovich.

Zott tries to teach overlooked housewives and the men who will listen more than cooking as she tries to return to her true love of science. The Oscar victor for Jack's Room will also be one of the project's executive producers.

The Lessons in Chemistry novel is slated to be published in spring 2022 by Doubleday in the USA and Transworld in the United Kingdom. That series was also a straight to series order, proving that Apple and Brie Larson are quite simpatico indeed. Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan will executive produce under Aggregate Films, which produces Netflix's "Ozark", and HBO's "The Outsider".

Brie Larson is taking on a big new role.

From there she scored roles in such films as Greenberg (2010), 21 Jump Street (2012), Don Jon (2013), The Spectacular Now (2013) and Trainwreck (2015).

The Academy Award winning actress' involvement with Lessons in Chemistry marks her second project with Apple Studios. She is set to reprise the superhero in the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel that will be directed by Nia DaCosta.
