The main "Fast and Furious" franchise is reportedly coming to an end.

The first film in the franchise starring the late Paul Walker as an undercover cop was released in 2001. The "Fast Saga" which was planned as a trilogy of films became an instant hit and continued to expand.

No official word yet on when the 10th and 11th films would be released.

The news was confirmed by Deadline.

Justin Lin has been a favourite filmmaker for the Fast and Furious movies, previously helming Tokyo Drift, 2009's Fast and Furious, 2011's Fast Five and the 2013 sixth instalment.

‘Fast & Furious’ Movie Series To End With 11th Instalment
Looks like the Main Fast and Furious film series will be around longer than expected

Fast & Furious 9, aka F9, had been due for release in April but was put back by 11 months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

As for the final two instalments, there is not much known about the plot.

In addition to the actors who have been in nearly the entire franchise like Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, and Tyrese Gibson, they have also had roles in the different films Jordana Brewster, Lucas Black, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Sung Kang, John Cena, Ozuna, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and the unforgettable Paul Walker, who died in 2013, leaving a great void in the saga and also among his castmates. But the natural speculation will be to wonder whether Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham - core castmembers who peeled off for the F&F spinoff Hobbs & Shaw after Johnson and Diesel had a falling out, will be back for the finale.

But it looks like there will be a lot more Fast and Furious because they could release more Spin offs, as was Hobbs & Shaw, which although it did not play the main story, was quite successful and well received by the fans.

Fast Five (2011) took the formula to Rio and introduced Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Luke Hobbs, a U.S. enforcement agent intent on bringing Toretto to justice. It was later announced that Chris Morgan was recruited as the screenwriter for the movie.
