A COVID-19 outbreak was declared at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver on Tuesday, as active cases provincewide reached a milestone of 1,465. The WHD is reporting a total of 53 active lab confirmed cases in the county, 68 probable cases in Sheridan County and 187 cases recovered - including probable cases.

There is one additional healthcare outbreak, for a total of 16 outbreaks in B.C.'s healthcare system. The Interior Health region has recorded 511 COVID-19 cases, and the Northern Health region has recorded 266 cases.

Los Angeles County health officials are monitoring COVID-19 data this week to see whether Labor Day gatherings cause a surge in cases, a factor that could determine the next reopening tier. "This means spending less time with others outside of our household bubble right now", they add.

We need to push our COVID-19 curve back down and keep the virus low and slow, so we can manage the many challenges that will come with the respiratory season.

Health officials in British Columbia will provide an update this afternoon on the latest cases of COVID-19 in the province.

Currently, 61 people remain in hospital with the virus, including 22 in intensive care.
