The series is tied 2-2.

Capitals star Alex Ovechkin had to be held back from getting into it with Hurricanes players after the incident. The Capitals suffered a concerning injury of their own when Foegele sent T.J. Oshie awkwardly into the boards with a unsafe cross-check with just over five minutes left. "With the situation where, to get his game back to where it was a year ago around this time, it was important for him to play a lot of minutes". "It has to be a different call", Ovechkin said to Isabelle Khurshudyan of The Washington Post.

Frustration was felt beyond the locker room, however, as Capitals' head coach, Todd Reirden stated, "It's an extremely unsafe play".

"It was a defenseless player that was quite a distance from the boards", Rierden said.

No news can often be good news when it comes to injuries during the National Hockey League postseason, but that is likely not the case with the situation involving Capitals winger T.J. Oshie.

This has led to the recalling of forward, Devante Smith-Pelly.

In 20 games with Hershey, the forward recorded 14 points on six goals and eight assists. He scored seven goals in the 2018 postseason, which was 4th on the Capitals in goal-scoring. 3 of those came in the Stanley Cup Finals, including the game-tying goal in Game 5.

Reirden told reporters Friday that Oshie is seeing doctors, and the team would know more about his status in the next few days.

While it is hard, it isn't impossible.

The Washington Capitals suffered two big losses Thursday night in North Carolina. As for DSP, the Capitals hope his improved play in Hershey will translate to an even more clutch spring.
