HBO boxing play-by-play commentator Jim Lampley is not exactly a big fan of the date for the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight.

Many observers think the bout is a huge mismatch in favor of the seasoned Mayweather, who has never lost in 49 professional boxing fights. "By the way, I think that by choosing that path they've hurt the buy rate for both events because the buy rate for Mayweather-McGregor would be much larger if it were taking place in November, and buy rate for Canelo vs. Golovkin obviously would be larger if Mayweather vs. McGregor weren't taking place on August 26".

Lennox Lewis and the Klitschko brothers used chess to warm-up for their big bouts, the thinking and strategy game a good way to get the brain working after weeks of physical preparation, but what on earth could Conor McGregor be using cards for as he faces the biggest challenge of his fighting career?

The Irishman has a famous left hook and Fury predicted Mayweather will meet the same fate as Jose Aldo did when McGregor knocked him out in their featherweight title fight. "People all around the world demanded this fight so I had to give them what they wanted to see", Mayweather said in an interview with BSOTV.

19,000 tickets for that fight were handed out to sponsors, promoters, TV executives and celebrities, meaning that just 1,000 ended up going on general sale.

McGregor, 21-3, is more than fancies his chances of shocking the world and handing Mayweather his first professional defeat. "I'm stating facts", McGregor told GQ.

"If I crack that little head of his, it's gonna go clean off his shoulders and up into the bleachers".
