President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner visited Iraq on Monday with the top U.S. military officer to meet Iraqi leaders and review the fight against the militant Islamic State group, officials said.

Both Ivanka and Jared are not people who have had a lot of experience.

Ari Fleischer, former President George W. Bush's White House press secretary, added: "The moment of vulnerability is, if they know you're coming, a surface-to-air missile going after the airplane". Trump's son-in-law also met with the Iraqi prime minister this week to discuss the country's war with ISIS.

Middle East peace: After taking office in January, Trump tasked his son-in-law with resolving the decades-long conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians, dubbing it the "toughest deal in the world to make", and saying that if Kushner can't help broker peace "no one can".

Dunford invited Kushner and Thomas Bossert, a presidential assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, on the trip to meet with Iraqi leaders and USA forces, and to receive an update on the fight against the Islamic State militant group, also known as ISIS.

Kushner was instrumental in pushing out Corey Lewandowski, Trump's first campaign manager, and he also signed off on the ouster of Paul Manafort, Lewandowski's replacement.

Iraq was part of the Trump administration's original travel ban but was removed from the revised version after a request from the Pentagon and the State Department highlighting Iraq's key role in fighting the Islamic State.

Dunford said Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi understood the need for continued United States military support.
