James Charles, the first male brand ambassador for USA make-up brand CoverGirl, has provoked criticism for comments he made about Ebola.

Highlights from his screenshotted Notes app statement include: "I am extremely sorry for my tweet and I feel like shit for saying it".

Charles has now landed in some hot water after tweeting Thursday about an upcoming trip to South America, and seemingly joking that he hoped he wouldn't get Ebola. However, as noted by Affinity Magazine, Charles did not immediately apologize for the tweet and responded negatively to some critics. I take full responsibility and will learn and do better. "I understand why what I said was offensive and ignorant". "James Charles' tweet does not represent CoverGirl's perspective", the company told NY in a statement "We agree his statements were inappropriate but appreciate that he has issued an apology. I look forward to exploring the country and learning much more about the people and culture, because clearly I know very little and have a lot to learn".
